Dr. Virambhai Godhaniya College of Arts, Commerce, Home Science & Information Technology was founded by the Shri Maldevji Odedra Smarak Trust, Porbandar in 1988. It is a Grant-in-Aid College affiliated to Saurashtra University. This institute of higher education is a non-profit establishment offering undergraduate courses in the faculties of Arts (B.A.), Commerce (B.Com.), Home Science (B.Sc.), Information Technology (B.C.A.), (D.C.S.), (P.G.D.C.A.), Education (B. Ed.-Gujarati), (M.A.- English) and M.Sc.(IT & CA).

The College has also got a Career Oriented Programme in Spoken English and E-Commerce and a Foundation Course in Human Rights and Value Education duly approved by UGC-Pune, and Saurashtra University-Rajkot. In the year 2007 an ENGLISH LANGUAGE LAB (an Auxiliary Centre of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad) was also established.

The college believes in national integration and has an open admission policy, encouraging enrollment of girls and boys irrespective of income, class, caste, region, religion or creed. At present the college has a strength of about 3000 students coming from all the sections of the society.

The college aims at imparting integral education in its programme of higher studies. In the next few years the college proposes to start Postgraduate Centers in Hindi and Sociology, Special Psychology at the UG level and introduce a few more Career Oriented Programmes (COP). The College has been assessed & accredited (68 %) by NAAC Bangalore in the year 2007.
